Huntsmill Honeymoon Suite

The Old Dairy

_June 10

The Old Dairy – aka The Honeymoon Suite - is where our couples get to spend quality time together the night of their wedding day.

Read on to find out how the cottage has transformed with the help of local builders and tradesmen who worked on the conversion.

What did the Old Dairy look like before?

The Old Dairy was originally part of the farmhouse and used to house the kitchen. Then, it was converted into a self-catering cottage back in 2001.

As you can see in the pictures below, it didn’t reflect how we wanted our couples to feel and still resembled a typical cottage home. Our goal was to create a honeymoon suite that would complement their wedding experience and make them feel extra special; without being too far removed from the rural setting.

The Old Dairy after renovation

The renovation had taken lots of planning and hard work to get things right – we wanted it to be perfect!

To begin with, there were a few projects we were unsure of. Initially, we thought about removing the spiral staircase but decided it was not practical; now, we believe it is a great suite feature.

Secondly, we took time to consider the layout of the bathroom and the color of the new front door. We chose black and white tiles with white walls for the bathroom to give the room an inviting, spacious welcome. The front door was painted with a brown oak effect.

What’s new in the downstairs renovation?

The downstairs is completely open plan with the kitchen, dining, and living area all in one large space. We have added a wood burner to make it extra cosy and the kitchen has all mod cons including a dishwasher and a sophisticated Corian worktop. The bathroom is just off to the side and has been decked out in black brassware and bright white tiles.

Who helped us transform Old Dairy’s interior?

The renovation was a team effort and we’d like to say a huge thanks to all the builders and tradesmen who worked on the conversion.

Our expert architect, Gary Cooper, helped us build a honeymoon suite we’re proud to share with our newlyweds. Gary’s wife, Louise, also provided us with top-notch measuring!

We would also like to thank James, Tom, Ian, Lewis, Rich, Pete, Jason, Mark, and Simon (two of whom are Huntsmill grooms themselves!) we cannot thank you enough for turning our vision into a reality.
