At Huntsmill Farm we understand the importance of having your furry friend being part of your big day. Pets make up a special part of your family, and it’s only fair that you would want them to play an important role in your wedding day too.

Huntsmill Farm is one of Buckinghamshire’s dog friendly wedding venues, allowing your pets to be part of your wedding day. Here are a few ways that you can make Huntsmill Farm into a pawsome venue.

Wedding Ceremony Chaperones

We’ve seen many of our couples want to include their dogs as part of the ceremony. Our 18th century stone barn is dog friendly, allowing you to include your four legged friend for the ceremony, and makes for a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony photos. There are so many ways you can include your dogs in your ceremony – from walking down the aisle, to being a ring bearer, or just sat with your guests given them a good view of their humans tying the knot.

Dog Friendly Drinks Reception

After your ‘I do’s’ our lawn area is the perfect space for your drinks reception, and there’s more than enough room for your doggy friends on their leads. It’s the perfect opportunity to have a relaxed photo opportunity with your four legged pals, and a chance for them to enjoy the space. Once you’ve finished your drinks reception, it’s time to head into the barn for the wedding breakfast, and your furry friends can head back to their cottages to rest.

Group Photos

Of course what’s a dog friendly wedding without some gorgeous group shots of your furbabies with you on your special day?

We have lots of beautiful spaces at Huntsmill Farm as a backdrop for your photos, with our beautiful stone barn, courtyard, and grounds. Most people also like to get photos with our red telephone box, vintage tractor and giant chair!

Dog Friendly Accommodation

When you’ve finished your amazing wedding day, it’s time to head back to our cottages to relax. At Huntsmill Farm we have accommodation onsite that’s included with your wedding day, and have two self catering cottages at Huntsmill Farm that are dedicated as dog friendly, Carter’s Cottage and The Stables. Both of these cottages can fit two dogs, allowing you to relax in a home from home setting with your pets.

Three of our self-catering cottages are available to you the night before the wedding, sleeping 14 guests, and all seven cottages are available the night of the wedding. They make for the perfect comfortable setting, and give your dogs a quiet space to rest.

Huntsmill Farm’s Top Tips For Having a Pawsome Day

  • Look at the day from your dogs point of view – map out any key events and think about how your dog responds to similar situations. You’ll then be able to identify key moments where your dog might need a little bit of extra attention or a quiet space to chill out in.
  • Have people your dog trusts on hand to help – we’d recommend having a designated person who has a relationship with your dog to help to takeover with dog care during the day, because as the couple getting married you’ll be quite busy!
  • Be prepared that your dog may get excited or overwhelmed – Weddings are very exciting, and your dog is likely to join in with feeling that way. It’s important to factor in short breaks away from the action and to make sure your dog has a chance to unwind. This might involve taking some time out with their trusted dog sitter, or perhaps going on a few walks to escape the celebrations.
  • Create a quiet space for them – Sometimes your dog might need some time out from the party, so providing them a quiet space for them to rest and relax in during the day can really help. Setting up their bed and favourite toy in one of the dog friendly cottages can help them to settle and relax in unusual and exciting situations.
