What is a B Corp?
A B Corp is a business that meets high standards for how it treats people, the planet and the wider community, alongside strong governance and transparency.
To become certified, businesses complete the B Impact Assessment and must achieve a verified score of at least 80 points, followed by a detailed review process carried out by B Lab. It looks at five key areas of impact: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Creating a much bigger picture of how a business shows up in the world.
Why becoming a B Corp mattered to us
Our values of Family, Sustain, Inspire and Character have always guided the way we work at Huntsmill. Long before B Corp was on our radar, they shaped the decisions we made, the way we looked after our team and how we cared for the land around us.
Becoming a B Corp felt like a natural next step, not because we wanted a badge, but because we wanted a framework that challenged us, held us accountable and helped us do better. Behind the scenes and out on the farm.
We love being part of our local community and caring for the place we call home, and this certification helps us continue that journey with real intention.
What the journey looked like
The certification process took just over a year from start to finish. After completing the B Impact Assessment, our structure, evidence and commitments were carefully reviewed by B Lab.
It was thorough, sometimes challenging, and often reflective. It asked us to look closely at how we operate day to day, what we do well, and where we could improve. While it wasn’t always easy, it was genuinely rewarding.
The changes we made along the way
Although sustainability and care for people have always been part of Huntsmill’s DNA, the process pushed us to formalise and strengthen what we do. Some of the commitments we’ve now made include:
- Donating 1% of our annual turnover to local charities
- Working towards producing 50% of our own energy by 2027
- Reducing waste to landfill by 5% each year
- Improving recycling systems and carrying out regular waste audits
- Increasing rainwater harvesting and reducing water usage
- Becoming a Living Wage employer and investing further in staff wellbeing and development
These commitments guide how we run the farm day to day, now and into the future.
What this means for our couples and our community
For our couples, it means choosing a venue that genuinely cares. Every wedding at Huntsmill supports a place where people, nature and community are looked after, not just on the wedding day, but every day in between, here in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
For our wider community, it means continued investment, stronger local ties and a long‑term commitment to caring for the countryside that surrounds us.
Becoming a B Corp is something we’re incredibly proud of but more than that, it’s a promise to keep improving. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to share the journey with all of you.
