Tell us about yourself
Hello, my name is Anna and I create wedding stationery and a lot of floral fabrics. My background is Textiles Design, where I studied down in Brighton in my early 20’s. I live in Winslow with my husband and boxer dog Kizzy. I got married myself back in April, so I honestly know how it feels to be a bride!

Why did you want to become a stationer? How did you get started?
It all started a few years ago when I was a bridesmaid for my lovely friend Hannah. I was one of 6 bridesmaids and we had an issue with matching the shoes. I decided then to create a bespoke fabric to cover up a pair of flats so we could all match. From that moment the idea of my business developed. With that fabric I was able to incorporate into the bunting, the jam jar tops as well as the groomsmen bow ties. Having little touches of the fabric pulled all the artwork of the table pieces together creating a decorative theme throughout.
What is your style? / Do you have a specific style?
Most of my work is floral, but I do like it when a bride/groom wants a totally different theme. I have recently helped with a wedding and the theme was vintage cars which I really enjoyed creating. Everything that I do is watercolours, so the illustrations still sit with everything else, even the florals.

What advice would you give couples when choosing their stationery?
I would say that there is no right or wrong way to create wedding invitations. As long as you have your names, date, venue and time, everything else is additional. Everything for a wedding needs to be bespoke and suitable for the couple, including the wedding invites. Most of the stationery I create is bespoke, making sure it is exactly right for every couple.
What makes you happy?
Work wise, listening to a good podcast, with a fresh cup of tea and painting away I have to say I am in my element. But personally, nothing beats being by the seaside. When deciding university, Brighton had to be the choice with the beach in view as soon as I stepped out of the university doors.
If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be and why?
I am a big fan of the singer Adele. Who isn’t? I would LOVE to be able to sing just a little bit like her – I can’t sing at all but that doesn’t stop me in the car. It would be amazing to be her on tour, having that confidence to sing in front of the whole of the O2.
What do you love most about your job?
The best thing is that every week is different and not one job is the same. Some days I am busy assembling invitations, or the next making bow ties. I am very grateful that I have made my painting hobby into a business and career that I totally love.
Why should our couples choose you? What makes you unique? What’s your motto?
I honestly love working with couples creating something totally unique for them. I want to make their wedding day as perfect as possible and really resemble them as a couple. I can help right from the beginning from save the dates, through to thank you cards to the guests. All the artwork I do is totally my own so I can create something totally unique. Also, being a recent bride myself, I can give honest advice on what we did and how we went about it. Every wedding has politics… especially mine.
What’s your drink of choice?
Give me a cup of tea and I am a happy girl. Milk, 1 sugar and a Yorkshire/Tetley tea bag if I am being particular. To be honest I am not the biggest drinker of alcohol… but I do like to have a few cocktails with my friends, or a drink of prosecco or two.
